ARION - Autoritratto dell'artista a 20 anni Painting

I painted this painting in 1992 and it is my only self-portrait, at about the age of 20. It represents the Greek myth of Arion who, thrown into the sea by unfaithful sailors, is saved by the dolphins, who will transport him to the shore, saving him from certain death. Beyond the representation of myth, my intent is to highlight the eternal alliance with Nature that has accompanied the evolutionary history of Man. An alliance that is put in great danger by the concept of well-being and development that humanity has been pursuing for about a century and that tends to upset the balance, consuming energy and resources that can change the environment and endanger human existence itself. This is a very topical issue that we are all learning about. I want here, with this painting of mine, to reiterate the concept of ALLIANCE BETWEEN MAN / NATURE that I consider essential to counter the aberrant concept of the exploitation of the Environment which, let us remember, is always accompanied by the exploitation of other men and creates war, misery and destruction for the poorest, but in the end, FOR EVERYONE.
