the be art gallery was founded on November 20, 2015. located at rungkut kali megah shophouse L-42 st. raya kali rungkut no.1-3 surabaya 60299 Painting has poisoned the mind for a long time and it has been since 1983 when I was still students of Bogor Agricultural University, a cool city 60 km south of Jakarta, but this is poison which makes you happy. A poison that, if you don't drink it, you feel something is lacking in this life. Initially from reading criticisms or essays written by curators / academics on the daily Kompas Minggu, lama over time to fall in love, and finally poisoning. Not just enjoying painting By viewing exhibitions and visiting art museums, I also enjoy participating in discussions with the audience painter / artist to open horizons of thinking. Even though I couldn't paint at all. In 1993, living in Surabaya grew more joyful, because the atmosphere was very artistic and cultural support. One result of my frequent discussions with fellow painters was in 2002 sponsoring a painting exhibition on glass media. It's strange and magical, I've never bought a painting yet sponsor a painting exhibition. The exhibition was entitled "The Charm of Two Surabaya Glass Painters". The painter special, because both are self-taught / not art school products. One is an ex employee of Petrokimia Gresik (who resigned, his name is Andi Prayitno) and paved the way as a painter, yang another person is more special, his name is Hadi Koco, a disabled person with two crutches / a walker on Left and right. After the exhibition, with the Bang Wetan Surabaya Arts Community had a chance to held three exhibitions with participants throughout East Java. Twice at the Youth Hall Surabaya, and once at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) Jakarta. As of 2002 we have holding exhibitions six times, not many. Hopefully in the future we have a lot opportunity to appear to the public with the exhibition program. After having quite a large collection of paintings, since 2010 I started buying and selling paintings. Even once or twice, sending paintings to become auction participants at auction houses in Jakarta. On encouragement from some of my painter friends to modify the 1st floor of the shophouse where my office was made into a mini gallery. To mark the opening of the gallery, we held an exhibition which was attended by 14 painters with participant members and partners of the Bang Wetan Surabaya Arts Community, which was held on early August 2017.
