About The Artwork

I created this piece of art as it reminds me of home, Africa. I can hear the laughter and chattering of the ladies with their babies on their backs and baskets on their heads. See their white smiles as they greet their friends. I can smell the sunshine, the harvest, and the local food which is cooking in the clay pots. I can see the kids hands being slapped away as they try to cheekily snatch away a quick morsel. I can hear the barking of the skinny street dogs, which are hanging around for runaway scraps. Painting these beautiful people takes me home. It fills my heart. I painted the original A4 work of art, in blue and black watercolours. I decided that it would look amazing in gold, soft greys and black. I photographed my original and digitally enhanced and manipulated it into the exact shades of grey that I wanted. I then printed this onto 300 gsm cotton art paper with my beautiful Epson 8 colour printer. I created a reverse stamp of the image and hand painted a very soft gold colour over the top of the black giclée print to give it a more artistic and abstract feel. I wanted it to look busy with people, but again minimalistic and not fussy so that it would fit into any lovely interior space. I hope you love this as much as I do. Thank you for reading my story.

Being so creative can be exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. I live with a constant noise in my head. I see everything and turn it into art in my minds eye. My artworks are created with a great deal of passion and thought. I use both sides of my brain, and being the daughter of an architect and painter, I am proud to say, I have inherited these traits. From the very tender age of 4, I made mud huts. I sold my first work of art at 12. My last artwork I gifted to the Jersey, Durrell Wildlife Conservation, to raise funds for the Silverback Gorilla's. My water color artwork of a Silverback Gorilla raised £6000.00 for the charity. I love giving, especially to those who take care of our animal species. I am an African at heart. I grew up walking with the elephants, avoiding the crocodiles whilst fishing in the Zambezi. Waterskied in the lakes amongst the fishes and water snakes. Spent endless weeks and holidays in the safari parks watching and photographing nature, including the big 5. I am a passionate photographer and naturist. Having now left this all behind. like a chameleon, I am adapting my art to my surroundings, the magnificent architecture of Barcelona. Every day I look up to see the beauty in the design and masonry work. The architecture and carpentry. It inspires me now to begin creating new art. This City will be now be my reference for the future as I begin this new chapter in my life. Welcome to my art and Barcelona.
