ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The work is inspired by Diego Velázquez's Portrait of the Infanta Maria Teresa. Velázquez, one of the most skilled painters, defined the Baroque period with his portraits. This particular painting impressed me with its silky colors—beautiful greys, greens, blacks, and browns. Rather than creating a reproduction of the work, I aimed to capture the feeling it evoked in me—the impression of the colors and the beautiful harmony between them. The piece is painted in oil on a wooden panel. It is round, which I found interesting for the composition, with a diameter of 14 cm.
