The idea of doing the series using gemstones as my inspiration came out of my enjoyment of admiring and collecting them. I have used a limited pallet so that I can delve into a particular colour theme. ‘Agatha came about as I was drawn to a close-up image of an agate. My intention was to add an abstract component using the detailed image of the agate to provide a framework surrounding a figurative painting. The Russian church Agatha's connection to the universal energy. She is metaphorically giving birth to circular ingots in pink, silver and white.
