Painting: Oil, Acrylic, Charcoal on Canvas.
I've always liked this quote from Julian of Norwich and it has almost become a kind of mantra of peace for me. I had worked on a different kind of abstract painting and it was just not coming together. So I decided to paint a thin layer of white oil paint over it and then paint on this text over the top, leaving the colors from the previous painting showing through. With that kind of process, you inevitably get some interesting effects you could not think up ahead of time. I also was certain I did not want the letters to be as clear as a billboard, because I wanted it to remain interesting every time you looked at it, not just once. I almost don't want to part with it, but I think it's good to have one's work out in the world.
