Art Description

Painting: Household on Wood, Other.

“Altar of the Moon” is an abstract minimalist encaustic painting in black and white with silver metal leaf. The piece is a modern view of traditional religious icons or altarpieces.

Encaustic paint is made from a combination of beeswax, resin, and pigment. The paint is heated and applied while hot, and gardens as it cools. Encaustic paintings are very durable(examples remain from ancient Egypt), but like most artwork, they should not be hung in direct sunlight, as extreme heat can affect the wax.

Comes ready to hang in a simple white frame. Signed on back.
