Elvis is a pop icon and inspiration for a lot of artists. All my life I am inspired by music and films. That's why I started painting portraits of pop icons and movie stars. Leaving only the essentials in a portrait and still be recognizable is my challenge again and again. The eyes are the most important to me. Being a large size canvas makes them more impressive. My background as a graphic designer shows in my portraits. No framing required, sides are painted.

My name is Dido de Beer, I am a graphic designer for more than 30 years, and I am painting portraits in a graphic style. Large size canvasses of pop icons and film stars. Painting the eyes is my specialty. Its a challenge to make the portraits with the least amount of details. The art of omission. I get inspired by citytrips, music and films. Music and memories are connected to me. Music brings you back like a time machine. That's what I intend to accomplish in my paintings.
