ABOUT THE ARTWORK
American Desert was created with artist-made gouche paint. The paint I make is super-saturated with pigment which produces exceptionally bright colors. The image ground is composed of a thin layer of porcelain which coats a wooden substrate. The image evolved over the course of production, but finally came to remind me of hiking in the Canyonlands, Zion National Park and other American Deserts.
