ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I paint a lot of fishermen, inspired by my husband. He modelled for this painting, as did my Border terrier. The thought of a fisherman reciting poetry to a Lobster appealed to me. I like a bit of humour in my paintings, there is enough bad things going on in the world. Art should be uplifting.

I live and work in Cornwall but haven't yet fulfilled my dream to find a house by the sea. Perhaps that is why I spend so much time painting the coast. Rock pools are my current obsession- watery windows into a normally hidden world. I love the vibrant colours and shapes of the seaweed and anemones, the salty smell and the fact that at any moment a Tompot Blenny or translucent prawn might make an appearance. Magical.
