This painting is part of the series ANHELO [1] # inexpresado (YEARNING [1] # unspoken) It comes with a passepartout. Dimensions of the visible part: 29 x 20 cm DESCRIPTION OF THE SERIES The series ANHELO / YEARNING [1] deepens on the personalties I encounter on social media. I am specially interested in what is not said. My thesis: Often, behind private messages there are unexpressed longings. Some dream of a heavenly place, others yearn for past or future times and many see their lives fulfilled with the idea of an idealised love. All have in common that the object of their yearning gleams in vibrant colours and continues in last instance to be unreachable. In these circumstances, the profane reality disappears and appears mostly grey. The artistic treatment of this thesis created a completely new colour concept. This has its origin in the reduction to the basic colours: blue, yellow, magenta / red, black and white.These colours correspond with the objects of the mental concept of yearning: lost paradise, past or future and ideal love. Black and white indicate the present reality. In this series I paint exclusively with these colours and put them in layers. The overlapping creates a new, wide range of colours. As a counterpoint I present works that are reduced to black and white as a representation of the grey reality. More works of the series ANHELO [1] will come soon ...

Artist Statement: My painting is inspired by those things which move us as human beings, which motivate us, which we are afraid of and which we love: it explores the inner motives of our external deeds. My approach is not scientific, but rather intuitive, and I focus on underlying energies which we encounter as deep and mainly archetypal sentiments. In my painting process, I face these feelings and transform them. Thus, my fear becomes courageous. Sorrow begins to hope and hate turns into love. This process led me in recent years from purely abstract to semi-abstract painting. The focus of these more figurative works are portraits of fictitious persons. They are interwoven with an unspecified, sometimes empty space. My preferred medium is acrylic paint on canvas. And a lot of water! Water implies that moment of chance and unpredictability which is not projectable. This opens up a space where the unsaid and unthought can appear. It is the space of freedom that blows up the boundaries of the familiar and refers to that what is possible beyond it. Romana G.
