"Anna Pavlova with Male Dancer" Painting

This painting depicts the famous Russian Ballet dancer, Anna Pavlova along with a male partner, in front of an ethereal and moody stage backdrop. Her bright clothes and face contrast with the gloomy setting. The setting suggests a carnival or circus. There are sparks of red through out the painting which causes your eyes to bounce from subject to backdrop. The pallete is very lowly saturated, with a moderate selection of colors that appear brightly. There are moments of heavy impasto, and in other places the oil paint acts nearly as watercolor.
