"'Apotheosis of Kremlin" 95x140cm, oil on canvas, 2022. An homage to V.V. Vereshchagin's painting "Apotheosis of War." The composition of the painting is powerful and emotive, with the central focus being on the russian army in action. The soldiers are depicted as sculls with stolen items from Ukrainian civilians. The overall tone of the painting is dark and foreboding, with hints of red symbolizing the violence and bloodshed of the conflict. Despite the apparent strength of the russian army, there is a sense of impending doom and inevitable defeat. The bleak landscape and the subtle use of light and shadow convey a feeling of despair and hopelessness. The painting is a commentary on the futility and senselessness of war, particularly when it is waged against innocent civilians. The title of the painting, "Kremlin's Apotheosis," alludes to the idea that the russian government sees itself as above reproach and invincible, but ultimately their actions will lead to their downfall. The painting is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of aggression and violence from russia.
