Ángel Nevárez Ríos .html Was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico. He has a BA, from the Escuela de Artes Plasticas de P.R. Nevarez received his MFA degree from the University of New York at Buffalo. Studied postgraduate credits in Literature, at the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe. From 1978 to 1980 functioned as a guide for the museum of the Instituto de Cultura of Puerto Rico. In 1981 was appointed associate director of the la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de P.R. In 1995-96 he carried out the position of chairperson of the painting department of the same institution in which he continues today as a professor in the painting department. He obtained First Prize in the Fourth Bienal of San Juan of the Latin American and the Caribbean Prints, 1979. Secondly Prize, Fifth Art gallery UNESCO, Univ. Puerto Rico, 1979. Participated in the Fifth Bi annual of Art of Valparaiso, Chile, 1981. Exhibited his Paintings in the Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, Orlando Florida, the USA, 1981. Nevarez was invited to represent Puerto Rico in XVIII the Bi annual of Sâo Paulo, Brazil, 1983 and in the Bi annual of Book Illustrations For Children, Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, 1983. Angel Nevarez was a member of the congress of Abstract Artists of Puerto Rico exhibiting his works at the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and Gallery of Modern Art, Dominican Republic, 1986. He participated in the Eighth Bi annual of Art, Cultural Institute, Domecq, Mexico, D.F., 1988. Represented Puerto Rico at the International Fair of Seville, Spain, Pavilion of Puerto Rico, in the event Forty Years of Puerto Rican Prints, 1992.
