As if nothing had happened... Painting

Stood in the rugged landscape of Cornwall this hawthorn was the only thing on the exposed hillside growing higher than knee height. The predominate south westerly wind ensures that everything grows in one direction and creates the surreal impression of a landscape combed over by a giant hand. I have attempted to capture something of the harsh beauty found here. Autumn earth colours mix with fiery reds and yellows and I have used impasto acrylic washed with inks to create the textures of the horse and golden brown grass. Acrylic ink and paint on paper. This work is framed in a simple white box frame and white mount. It is currently behind glass but would look best unglazed. If this was requested the white mount would be replaced with a white wood slip, at no additional cost.
