I visit Lake Michigan almost every day and delight in the free flight of gulls. Seagulls teach you to let your heart soar on the wings of freedom and joy. They can lift you out of the depths of despair and into the soaring heights of being one with all that is: one with the ocean, one with the land, and one with the glorious, vast sky. You can choose to fight against your life struggles and be miserable, or you can choose to escape for a few moments. Leave your life struggles behind as you meditate on this painting each morning and re-set your mind to a positive, free state.In this fantasy triptych, Seagulls find their way to the light. Conceived when a close friend decided to fight his terminal cancer. There were times he wished he could run from the fight. That need to escape - the human desire to be free from the fight, led me to develop this painting. I wanted to visualize the place where we all want to go when we have chosen to fight, but our souls need time to rest and grow strong again...a place to which we all take flight from time to time.
