Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to become an astronaut? The term "astronaut" derives from the Greek words meaning "space sailor," and refers to all who have been launched as crew members aboard an American/European spacecraft bound for orbit and beyond. Since the inception of human space flight program. I've always been fascinated by space and the courage of astronauts. Therefore, this piece of art is a tribute to those who have been up there.

Netherlands
Pieter Langendijk is a self-taught Dutch artist, inspired by Karel Appel, Willem de Kooning and Jean Michel Basquiat, but he has a thing for (new) abstract expressionism so there is no easy categorization. Or like Picasso said: "Painting cannot be taught, it can only be found". Langendijk gets his inspiration from heroes, nature and all good things in life, which makes for a personal and eclectic oeuvre. His work present a combination of an abstract, figurative imagery and painting expressed with emotion and sensitivity. He creates in a spontaneous and intuitive manner, often in a loose style. Before his career as a painter began, he produced several Dutch TV Shows, like the award-winning “The Secret of a Master Painter”. In this programme a team of leading experts takes up the ultimate challenge to reconstruct six of the most diverse Dutch masterpieces. In the process the experts pull out all the stops to get as close as possible to the artist's technique, style and perception of the world. Masterspieces featured in the show: Van Gogh, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Bosch, Mondriaan and Appel. The Netherlands has an illustrious history of unparalleled worldwide fame when it comes to painting. But Langendijk’s paintings convey a consciousness that implores us to seek out the details and subtleties of our inner child and re-explore our relationship with it. He lets himself be carried away, indicated by the hand of intuitive colors and spontaneous, childlike fun and shapes... often with a big grin on his face. If you look at the paintings on show you should be able to catch a glimpse of fun, pleasure and humor. But most of all, his art is a big reminder to enjoy life. In his eyes “to enjoy life” simply means being able to appreciate what you have now and enjoy life’s moments without letting them pass you by. This also means being able to enjoy the sounds, colors and scents of the world. To Langendijk, living a good life depends on what matters to you. Take the time to define your values, priorities, and goals for life. Self-awareness is key. Work to fulfill the desires you want to achieve, stay true to yourself and never doubt yourself. Doubt has killed more dreams than failure ever will. So, don’t be afraid to fail in life, be afraid not to try. Create more, care less! Therefore, Langendijk would love to see his work being showcased in homes, clubs, beach houses, restaurants and other cool venues... where people come to enjoy life and have fun.
