At Times Unbearably So Painting

Born in 1992 in Caracas, Venezuela, Andrés Zighelboim is a painter living and working in New York City. His earliest memories are of his grandfather's haunted mansion, and watching fighter jets fly over his rooftop. He spent his childhood moving up and down the east coast of the United States, cultivating a rich and romantic fantasy life through literature and art. He's still waiting on his letter from Hogwarts. His studies in Pittsburgh would feed his sense of romance with industrial ruins and graffiti. In Florence, Italy, he apprenticed under a Master Forger as a means to perfect his craft. In 2017 he turned his wandering inward, embarking on a spiritual journey to Peru, where he took part in three ayahuasca rituals. External displacement and inner cultivation are the cornerstones of his work.
