This came from a series of paintings exploring the ambient energy of living spaces and the city. The colors collide with each other and thrust up against each other in the same way that light and energy does against buildings and open spaces. this creates caves and tunnels of color and light that viewers can explore. these works have also been viewed as metaphors for the body. the sharp strokes and drips referencing injury as contrasted by the bright colors conveying the inner warmth of the self. the color pallet for this individual work was inspired by the sunsets over New York city. I painted this while overlooking the city in the evening.
