This bold and evocative artwork intensifies its themes of fragmentation and reconstruction with a powerful use of color. The central black-and-white portrait, featuring a young person with a shaved head, top model Augusta Alexander, is once again deconstructed through the strategic layering of rectangular segments. However, in this iteration, vivid red rectangles are superimposed on specific features: the eyes and mouth. The crimson hue injects a visceral, emotional intensity into the work, drawing immediate focus to these areas, which are typically associated with communication, perception, and emotion. The sharpness of the red contrasts with the otherwise monochrome palette, adding a striking dynamism to the piece. The subject’s eyes, now glowing with a deep, almost haunting red, appear to confront the viewer with a mixture of vulnerability and defiance. The lips, equally highlighted in red, suggest both silence and speech, with the color evoking a sense of passion or urgency. This selective use of color draws attention to the most expressive parts of the human face, reinforcing themes of identity and self-perception. The surrounding grey tones of the background, combined with the black border and textured layers, add depth and complexity to the artwork, allowing the red accents to stand out even more vividly. The collage-like composition, with its fragmented shapes and disrupted alignments, conveys a sense of inner conflict or fragmented identity, while the bold color choice suggests emotional intensity or psychological depth. IMPORTANT: None of my artwork is perfect, they are organic, there are drops of paint, tears in the paper, waves, glue residues. They are original!
