Aurora Painting

This piece is inspired by the ability of the individual to over come adversity by exploding from the centre of their being. I used the portrait of the woman to symbolise fertility and regrowth/renewal. The piece is entitled “Aurora”, the goddess of the new dawn in classical mythology. The name Aurora means dawn in Latin. I used splashes to build the image of the face to look similar to the stars in the night sky and give an overall celestial feel. The effect also bears resemblance to the morning due which is also attributed to Aurora in classical mythology. I used the large energetic splashes in place of hair to symbolise the energetic explosion of a new beginning- a new dawn- Aurora.
