Awakening The Bear Painting

I started this painting as a demo for a class I was co-teaching, involving shamanic practice and visionary art. I started the painting with the Bear, and then let the rest evolve, stream of consciousness and serendipity influenced finding the narrative. As I did, I began to pull up a lot of unconscious material - literally things I did not know. Things deep in my unconscious that were really weighing me down. Sadness, Grief, and Anger from my childhood that needed to be expressed. I think the Bear was helping to bring up the unconscious material for healing, and was also helping me to tap into this invisible web of mother energy, and the tremendous power stored in. The mother is such a nurturer, but she can also be fierce in protecting her young. When the mother energy is activated, it activates a warrior within.
