Mariachis of Jalisco gather before going forth to play for the evening. This is a private moment and all are excluded, it seems. When I paint people they are almost always present with the viewer, often eyeball to eyeball but not here, this is a private moment and I like to watch it, paint it, wonder at the conversations and the moments they are enjoying before facing the public and entertaining them.
