VIEW IN MY ROOM
Painting: Acrylic, Collage on Wood.
My form of art is more a 'signs and shapes control and analysis' exercise than a pictorial style.
Along my whole career I have mixed styles and techniques and jumped from one to another, back and forward, following the needs of expression (and maybe to keep myself free and stay out of the corset that ends up being your own style too).
However, that sometimes makes me an irregular creator for collectors and gallerists, but it keeps me sharp and smiling in the studio.
Although it might sound pedantic, when I get down to painting I only seek the possibility of entering that known kind of trance that lets me work while forgetting about myself and my intentions.
Then I am able to get a glimpse of the underlying images in the (my) unconscious, those most valuable, precious and inaccessible. When I can get into it, and it’s not always possible, this 'automated' state lets me intuitively play the game of the trompe-l'oeil, the visual joke, and the constructive surprise, all to navigate the surreal.
'Birdie' is calm among the birds.
Item painted collage on canvas. It is framed and glassed now, can be sent just as a stretched canvas.
