BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE: Busy Little Bird Print

This is and admirable little bird may be tiny and cute, but they are astonishingly smart as well, busy during every season of the year. In addition to nesting, they work relentlessly to gather and store extra food such as seeds and nuts, which they hide in secret caches to carry them through the northern winters, because they do not join the annual southern migration. Chickadee behavior have been studied by a vast number of researchers. They remember the locations of thousands of food caches and are apparently able to recall what sort of foods is tucked away in individual caches as well. They are on the move from dawn to dusk, but tuck themselves securely into secretive, solitary perches by night. This work is of archival quality.
