“We are who we are with what we remember of our lives. [...] Dreams and memories are the only tourniquet tenacious keeping us close to the future and the past: the building blocks of our life. The I-man is the one who has learned to be with learning, with interest, with the stimulus that the "memory" has metabolized into a unique personality and distinct from all others. A smell, a taste, a music, a voice can re-ignite instantly the child who stayed, the adolescent, adult, in filmic sequence of our past. They can jump into the folds of layered memories with similar sensations, seamless, resetting the time”.
Erich R. Kandel.

From this quote, I wanted in this project to create the conditions in which each of us, looking at every single picture/card, could draw to “remembrance”: where remember does not mean retrieve still images stored but reconstruct an experience spent in a new context, through the rehash of neuronal maps.
Our identity comes from the continued reconstruction, from remodeling, from the comparison of past and future as variants of the same scene, by telling us to ourselves.

My latest work is part of the project I.D. Identity where I tried, with different media (photography, digital graphics, paint), to give more space to the topic chosen, preferring content to stylistic formalism.
In this work is more noticeable because it purposely moving from one canvas to another using different styles; the idea was to bring up each individual operates as a "recall" a flash "mnemonic" and give the impression of a random sequence, this mnemonic representation leads to empathic memory reactivation through the idea of the game and of the individual cards to stimulate the person requesting it to internalize the experience transforming it and encoding it again. In this recovery process and codifies an important role assume the individual experiences, emotions, moods, the "background".
This work was inspired by a photo taken a few years ago in Tuscany in a pine forest on the sea where this species of butterflies giants leaned to the fruit of date that I had in hand without fear, is an image that concur to change to the transformation and spiritual growth. Pastel colors, acrylics reinforce this feeling of absolute beauty that captures the moment before we escape.
