Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Wood.

An Idyllic portrayal of infancy, when children begin to crawl and explore the world around them. This painting depicts my sister (central) who was 8 months at the time and the other figures on the left and right are more transparent versions of her crawling off into different directions to represent constant movement. Babies are adorable but a lot of work. Children need your full attention and can quickly become a handful, especially when children begin to crawl they get excited and want to go everywhere , you can’t keep your eyes off them for a second. This piece is inspired by Mary Cassatt’s warm naive depictions of children, whilst subtly hinting at the reality of children , symbolised through the 3 babies (1 child can become a handful and seem like many).
