The massacre of the banana plantations was an event that profoundly and historically marked the memory of the Colombians. This fact has been the object of inspiration of many literary works and pictorial works. Today I add my voice with the intention of denouncing and honoring the thousands of lives of the workers who died that sad day. It is very important to do it and remember our history so as not to give the opportunity to opportunist and populist politicians to take advantage to plant doubts. Just as the literary masterpiece, “one hundred years of solitude” is a work of magical realism inspired by the historic events of the banana massacre in 1928, so too is this artwork that sheds light on the unjust horrors that occurred during this day.
