BeachScape One Painting

"BeachScape One", is an encaustic wax painting on cradled birch panel. Artwork size is 12" x 12" x 1". It comes in a white, wooden floating frame. FRAMED DIMENSIONS: 14.25"x 14.25" x 1.75" (art can be removed from floating frame, but a FLOATING frame is recommended to protect the wax edges). Painting comes framed and wired with hanging hardware included. You will also receive a "Short History of Encaustic Wax", a Care Sheet, a polishing cloth, and an artist bio/statement. Encaustic wax is an ancient, archival medium consisting of beeswax, natural resin (tree sap), and pigments. It is melted and painted onto the wood panel with brushes. Each layer is then fused together with heat. As the medium ages, the resin/wax mixture hardens and clears. After years of this, the painting will grow more vibrant, the opposite of most painting mediums. The beeswax has antibacterial properties, so the art will not attract mold or mildew. This is another reason for the archival nature of the medium. n, eventually stopping altogether. If you elect to leave the bloom, know that it can be polished away at any time. Many encaustic wax paintings exhibit thick texturing and modeling. This painting, and many of my seascapes have a much smoother face. I want the colors to really shine through, and I find that the flat surface catches the light and reflects it back through the wax better.
