This painting represents the image of 21st century women and the impact of the social media on our lives. “Whether women are rating beauty products, giving each other advice or sharing personal beauty/body image stories, or posting their own images or ‘selfie,’ beauty has become more personalized and more inclusive on the Internet.” We’ve all become empty, superficial creatures and we try to cover that by creating a person that other people will like, but the truth is - that person doesn’t really exist. The girl from the countless selfies that you post on your social media profiles is not who you really are….And you know that. The number of countless likes on your photo, where you don’t even look like yourself, from people that you don’t even know, becomes measurement of the amount of self-esteem you feel for that day. All this provides an illusion of control: if I spend more time and really work at it, I can improve at being beautiful. We need to stop this nonsense,before we all turn into bitter and lonely human beings. Just think about it: Does all of this make up and clothes really make us beautiful? How do you feel on the inside? Does all of that make up cover the tears you're crying at night? Are you finally going to make the right man love you? Is this the real you? Why do you do it? What do you gain, and from whom? You matter more than your look. You ARE beautiful.
