This is a portrait based on Alexi Pappas.

She is a writer, director, actor + Olympian athlete. She encourages people, young women, to stand strong, to aim for power, not a specific body type or look. In a world of perceived perfection and facades, she offers a dose of honesty, which as we know, honesty saves everyone’s time.
.
I’m selecting individuals, historical figures, contemporaries, athletes, writers, creatives, etc, anyone who is on my radar who demonstrates to me a form of endurance. An endurance to execution. People who don't choose an easy, unresisting path, they commit to something greater, much deeper than their immediate world, and attempt to contribute, by using the tools they have. For runners, it’s using the health you’ve been given and pushing past your own mental limits, past pain, tapping into something #primal. Everyone has access to endurance, physical + mental, some choose to explore it.
.
This image for me captures all the emotions of toeing the starting line of a race.
Inside you’re brimming with possibility, potential, nerves, reassuring yourself that you pooped, hydrated enough the day before, etc.
There’s a raw humility with this kind of excitement, you have only you and your tools you came with. It’s you and the natural world, gravity really. Running is just controlled falling. It’s just you stripped to your bare minimum.
.
You’re here now. Rest into a calm, but a steady, fearless one. All that’s left now is to go all in. You’ve built the endurance, the work is there. Enjoy this.
