There are two re-known smoke meat establishments in Montreal - Schwartz's, a "must" visit for tourists coming to the city, and , "The Main". the place where people "in the know" frequent. There are never line-ups at "The Main", but be there at 3 am and you may see some of the city's more colourful characters...some of the"originals"...This is in the alley, half a block south. behind what was once another iconic Montreal landmark, The St. Lawrence Bakery.
