About The Artwork
A painting inspired by film maker Ingmar Bergman. Like most of my work in oils, this is painted in several thin and perfectly smooth layers of oil paint. I typically use an imprimatura (base tone), an opaque underpainting in earth or neutral colours, and a glaze layer in more transparent and brighter colours. I use a tiny amount of amber in my painting medium to add a unique level of stability, and a silvery lustre to the result. Like many of my works, this features a custom made frame of solid wood, designed the complement and form part of the artwork.
