Oil & Ink on canvas
"Billie Rae"

In this series of work I am exploring the concept of mixing nature with human anatomy.
Mysterious women who are both glamorous and vulnerable at the same time.

Billie Rea is a former burlesque dancer with an exquisite beauty her performance are full of elegance and charm.

With an optical illusion the observer confuses what is real with what is not, creating an image that is completely surreal, full of magic and poetry.

Let´s begin with the idea of this world as "dual" light & darkness, good & evil beautiful & ugly... everything has two sides, but it is always subjective, always depending on how we look at things, circumstances and many other factors are impossible to know at first sight.

We live in a society that is constantly judging, but most of the times based on what we see, the first impression of things is what counts.

With this artwork I would like to invite people to think deeper and take a better look with open minds and with kind hearts, to be more connected with what we really are.

Always using duality to show another side of our world and life.
Repetition is also another important element to show that everything in this world is dual.

Lately I was going around the idea that if pain would be possible to be painted how would it look like?

This thought was in my mind over and over trying to give it shape and color.

Saatchi Art NFT artist #SaatchiArtNFTArtist #Fair Director's Pick Saatchi art AAF NYC Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea March 22 – 26, 2023 ART on Paper 2022 New York City I have been always fascinated by nature, the behavior of animals, the way that flowers and plants grow and how we are a big part of it, the subtle injection of ambiguity that blurs the gap between the ordinary and the fantastic. In my work I want to bring nature closer to the observer, to connect people with their roots and memories. Organic elements are essential as they show us, like in a fairy tale, the link between the subconscious mind and the actual world. This, besides having an apparent dark side, also embodies a sense of fragility and Vulnerability, which seems to be a consistent characteristic of my work. Delicate graphite lines, a subtle oil color palette, ink and rice paper all amalgamate to create layer after layer a particularly dreamy look that distinguishes my work. About the technique Each painting that I create is a unique dance with a variety of materials, unique to each work. I often refer back to traditional painting methods when priming the surface and preparing the paints. One of my preferred mediums is egg tempera, which i prepare myself from scratch in the same way that the renaissance masters would have done. I always use oils and inks in my work. The quality of these mediums enables me to build up subtle and rich layers, from which my poetic images appear. Each work is always a battle between exposing and suppressing different areas until the perfect balance of color and form is achieved.
