ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Art of History The paintings in this collection took as their starting point photographs made over a twenty-year period in many different museums around the world of historical objects and figures in art history. With these images I meant to investigate the connections between the past and the present, and to examine our endurance, appreciation and understanding of the past through the objects that have been preserved in museums and elsewhere. Through a contemporary re-interpretation of these artifacts, now metaphorically rescued from oblivion, I sought to re-contextualize, re-examine, and re-invent a link to past cultures and societies.
