Originally from Puglia, Linda Aquaro has lived and worked in Rome for about twenty years. Parallel to his work as an architect, he carries out his own personal artistic research, which ranges in various fields, from the most traditional (painting and engraving) to the most contemporary (digital). Its artistic dimension is above all that of the craftsman, centered on knowing how to do, on the gesture that becomes an essential act of a series of well-executed processes and procedures. The study of materials, techniques and combinations between these, in fact, makes his approach to the various expressive needs extremely versatile. In recent years, he has also collaborated in the field of illustration with magazines and small independent publishing houses. Linda Aquaro's research is strongly centered on figurative art and portraiture. The artist is fascinated by the relationship between the volumes of the face and space: the portrait is often combined with pure geometries, playing with the perception of empty and full. This architectural dimension of anatomy is strongly conditioned by his studies and his profession. The artist likes to experiment with different languages, combining in some cases even more techniques. In this sense, the latest works combine traditional painting with engraving: the works are in fact made on linoleum, which is engraved and hollowed, thus integrating the pictorial image with the engraved texture. From a conceptual point of view, the latest works investigate the sense of interior / exterior on several levels. The artist undergoes the fascination of everyday life, and encloses simple life scenes (whether they are faces or objects) in salvaged containers (such as wine boxes and sieves), imposing on the viewer a different and participatory vision of the work, generally experienced in its two-dimensionality. The container not only becomes a different frame of the work, but constitutes the protection of a pictorial frame that it is up to the visitor to reveal. The contemplation of the "destruction" of the pictorial film through engraving, the alteration of its entirety, also further emphasizes the concept of interior / exterior, as the material of the work is brought to the foreground through the excavation.
