Brad Warnaar is an artist who expresses himself as a painter and also as a composer. A longtime resident of Los Angeles, he purchased a home in Hudson Valley, New York in 2021, where he also now works. Born in Flint, Michigan, Brad Warnaar graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy and attended the Eastman School of Music before becoming a member of the Rochester Philharmonic French horn section at the age of 19. After serving in the Toronto Symphony for three years he relocated to Los Angeles to work in the recording industry, where he has played on over 1,000 film scores. In addition to composing and orchestrating for film, Brad Warnaar has written and arranged concert music which has been performed by orchestras in Nashville, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Toronto, and many others. His Horn Concerto was recorded by the Nashville Symphony on the Naxos label, and that orchestra subsequently commissioned him to compose a concerto for cornet, which has also been recorded by Naxos. While music has predominated his career, Brad Warnaar has pursued the visual arts - painting, principally - with equal passion throughout his adult life. He has utilized all paint media, from sumi-e to watercolor, gouache, pastel, and oil. Recently, he has painted acrylic on canvas almost exclusively. His paintings are in private collections in New York, Los Angeles, and Singapore.
