About The Artwork
Blue surfboard was inspired by my many visits to the local beaches in my hometown Perth Western Australia. Watching surfers swimming ceaselessly around waiting for the perfect wave has a hypnotic effect as the ocean swells and their bodies are overtaken by the seas power. I am no Surfer myself but feel an affinity with their commitment to the sea and becoming immersed in it. I chose paper glued together in sheets so it was flexible and could be taken to the location to work on with ease. I hope viewers will be taken to the seaside and thoughts of freedom and Summer.
