In my work they are represented by figures that come in my dreams or street scenes that remain in mind, I also add to my work events of which I am a witness in my daily life as a kind of urban chronicler, adopting the experience I have as an illustrator and graphic designer for the written press in the country, careers that I exercised before dedicating myself fully to my art. I did this work or was inspired to recreate a reflection in the form of universal criticism of the power assumed by military forces against society. My painting is calligraphic inspired by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Dubufet and the cartoonist, illustrator and musician Robert Crumb. A. E. Martinez The work of A.E. Martínez presents various references. In the first place, the conception of the work as an embroidery that ‘spins’ as it ‘tells stories’ from situations that the artist visualizes when he walks through the city. The scenes are synthesized by means of graphics: Cities identifies that by means of symbols: The images present ambivalent readings when a silhouette in a leading position alludes both to a recumbent body - as in the 'police parts' - and to street writings of graffiti artists. They are serpentine forms that, taken to the relief, showed "the different skins" that the city shows. Calligraphic and urban signs are shown as a unit. Alexander Martínez (Calabozo, Guárico state, 1965) is a plastic artist trained at the José Ángel Lamas Foundation and at the Cristóbal Rojas School of Visual Arts. In addition to studying Pure Art, he has studied Set Design. Since 1994, numerous individual samples have been held in Caracas. Starting in 1989, he participated in numerous shows and group exhibitions both in various regions of Venezuela and in the United States, Cuba, Bolivia, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. He has received several distinctions, among which the 1st. XXVI Prize of the Aragua Hall in the specialty of Graffiti. Text excerpts from the exhibition room at the Armando Reveron Museum
