ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I dreamt of her the night she passed. When my family phoned to tell me she was gone, I somehow already knew. Over the sea and over the ocean I went, back to a homeland that I barely recognise. But something about the light, the crisp morning air and then the bulrushes, brought back a strange familiarity. I'm glad for the breeze that day. Maybe the wind helps us with the passing; Drying our cheeks and bearing away the heaviness. I'd forgotten the name of these delightful plants. What a joy to see them too, enjoy the breeze. Acrylic and ink on canvas. Signed on the front and back of painting. Ready to hang.

"I paint as a means of making sense of the world. Line-work weaves through my canvas as a narrative, relating the parts and taking root. Water is a dominant feature in my art, as the sea has been my place of respite and replenishment since my young self. I’m drawn to unravelling the connection we have with our environments. I hope to inspire others to delight in and cherish our home.” Kelly Allison's artistic inclination flourished during her design and architectural studies in Canada, the UK and Sweden. Originally from Vancouver, she has been living abroad for many years, continues to travel extensively and today lives in France. This diverse cultural background, along with her current observations of the natural world, inform her artwork. Kelly uses acrylic, oil pastel & ink as mediums, using nature's curves & village lines to tell her story. Kelly sells her works worldwide.
