Butterfly Islands Painting

I was inspired to paint this idea of an otherdimensional refuge for butterflies: a mystical butterfly sanctuary in another dimension where colours and textures form magical islands in a dreamscape. I think it represents the desire all of us have to protect the most fragile personal and gentle aspect of our identities. I love the otherworldly landscape where the only recognisable forms are butterflies. Their delicacy and ehereal beauty perfectly meld with the liquid landscape. Only the poetry of painting can capture such a transcendent image. I love experimenting with all types of paint and adding found and household objects. I love the relationships between the creatures on the surface of the canvas with their magical environment.
