The piece is inspired by Houston rapper Tobe Nwigwe's song "CAGED BIRDS", when I hear the song it makes me think that even though there is a lot of adversity in life, we can still fly. The subject of the painting is looking up to the sky, and looking to the future.

I am a self-taught artist based in Texas, and I have been creating now for almost ten years. My primary mediums are colored pencils, chalk pastels, and acrylic paints. I enjoy mixing realism with fantasy, and I focus a lot on natural subjects: landscapes, flowers, birds, etc. I enjoy depicting natural things because of the softness and fluidity of light in nature, and I love using different colors to reflect that. Black is also a primary feature in my art work because of its role in helping to create dimension and shadow and because of the strong contrast between it and the brighter colors I tend to gravitate towards.
