About The Artwork

Captivated by the roaring waves of the San Diego shoreline, I painted with the intention of capturing the spirit of California. The grain of the wood really comes through in the sky connecting us to the natural beauty that already exists. The painting is frameless but has depth from wood on the back like a frameless canvas.

An art enthusiast myself, I am most inspired by Van Gogh and the post impressionistic movement. The energy captured in Starry Night catapulted my desire to do the same. I started painting 17 years ago cannot imagine my life without it.  Having grown up on the water it's ever changing presence brings a sense of peace and serenity that can be seen in my work. My brushstrokes are fluid and create a rhythmic pattern. Each painting has thick layers of paint incorporated with mixed media to create depth and texture. I finish each painting with resin to create a high gloss wet effect. I layer paint on top of the resin for a transition between matte and glossy finishes. I also like to incorporate elements from our earth into the resin to create surface texture. The encapsulates our environment and freezes a moment in time. I love to share my passion with others and have been teaching painting classes for five years.  I accept commissions, and have pieces displayed throughout the U.S. Currently her work is showcased at SKD Studios in Newport beach, Riley Arts Gallery in Manhattan beach, CA, Third dimension Gallery in Kamuela, HI, Bliss 101 in Encinitas, CA. and Ocean Art Gallery, in Flagler beach Florida.   STATEMENT: My work embodies me. It symbolizes memories from childhood on the water, fishing trips with my late father, and the desire to capture energy.  My intenet is to create an expression that can easily transport you to another place.  With over sixteen years of painting experience, my style is steadily evolving and growing with me.  The first painting I ever created was inspired Boticelli's "Birth of Venus." I found the fluidity to painting hair ressonated with my natural ability.  I create movement by layering brush strokes on top of brush strokes with multiple colors. Rhythmic patterns begin to flow throughout and the art comes to life.  Bold contrasting colors generate balance between light and dark.  Wood grain and mixed media add depth and surface texture.  I like to play off the reflections by adding a few layers of paint on top of my high gloss finish to create a three dimensional affect.
