Callao Square, Madrid. Painting

I really enjoy architecture, I get lost in my city, Madrid and wonder how many buildings were originally thought of, staged and still continue in marvelous shape after centuries standing up. I hope that its viewers feel the same feelings I had when walking up Preciados street. The contrast between old fashioned buildings packed with endless balconies as opposed to the Modernist style embedded in the Fnac’s building, flashy with metallic lines, big glass windows, that is portrayed on the other side of the lane I choose acrylic painting on canvas, the main way I use to express my art. As explained on other occasions, I like Acrylic rather than oil, it dries faster and although the result is less shiny, I have allergic issues with some of the turpentine oils used so I rather stick to acrylic and water as a dissolver. The subject matter is a picture I took right after being able to walk out after the Pandemic Lockdown. My style is personal, I don’t stick to rules, I just let myself go; enjoying the experience, drawing a first sketch, mixing color for lights and shadows.. until the image in front of me makes sense.
