Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Carlo Grassini lives & paints in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York USA My neighborhood is a thriving multi-national mix. It has the distinction of being the 3rd and fastest growing Asian community in New York City. While New York is large this Sunset Park area is more like a village on the scale of Hong Kong. Everything is relative and related. I live off the energy around me. My primary use of paint & other graphic media explores the endless course of action that has been part of this life. I grew up in a musical family. My father was a professional musician in the Philly area. I play piano and wood winds, while my writing & musical notations find their way into many of my works. Drawing the human figure, as well as utilizing text, are all important elements in my process of making assemblage works, prints & paintings. My ARTworks are in numerous private collections in the United States of America and Europe. For the past four years I have also been collaborating with a good friend/artist Bill Thomas. Called the exchange-conversations, we use the US postal service as our conduit from our studios The works travel back and forth until we finalize each work. Works generally take months to complete. They may be viewed here at Saatchi Online. http://www.saatchionline.com/carlograssini Additional projects and Artwork may also be viewed: http://www.behance.net/CarloGrassini
