About The Artwork

In Mexico, "Cenote" means pothole or sinkhole. It is what the Mayans call a "holy well". It is as beautiful as a reproduced picture of the movie Avatar. The Mayans believe that cenote is the gateway to where they believe in the gods to live. The underground world is also a road to the underworld, a holy place that symbolizes the cycle of life and death and birth. During the ice age, the sea level dropped, a large area of reefs were exposed to the air and died, forming a thick lime platform. As time passed, the jungle began to spread, and the carbonic acid formed by the combination of rainwater and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, in the porous lime the layers are carved and formed into long passages, eventually forming a huge underwater maze full of tunnels and cave networks. This magical deep pool attracted swimmers to jump down, and the traveling painter Zeng, who was so excited, painted this cave temple. In addition to surrendering to its changeable passages and light curtains, there is also a solemn atmosphere that seems to be in the temple. This sinkhole is like the temple and back garden of God, whether inside or outside. The mysterious light and shadow display of nature is more touching than any church designed by humans.
