This painting is part of what I hope will become a series that aims to emulate encaustic effects using acrylic paints and gels. It is created in layers using process painting techniques like pours that are then reworked with intent to pull out an image.

2 inch deep cradled, does not need framing.

Welcome to my profile. I'm sort of a "semi-professional" artist. I do have a Bachelor's degree in Art, but I also have a recently earned Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree and am now pursuing a second Bachelor's degree in Nursing in order to become an RN. I'd love to incorporate art therapy into my future healthcare career, or at least be an advocate for it, as I believe art has the power to heal the human spirit. My own work is primarily abstract and process oriented, although I guide and influence the process by creating compositions based on random incidents created by paint pours and drips. It's somewhat of an obsessive process, but I enjoy the act of discovery it entails, as I never know what a finished painting will look like. I do occasionally paint and draw landscapes as small sketches and may include those on my page as well.
