Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

This series of works that is abstract in nature and derived from the Zen philosophy of non-duality, of being and non being.

The artist works with oils here, following a technique of making the first mark and allowing nature to take its own course. Every mark is a reaction to the earlier mark made and allowed to settle. Even through this highly intuitive and natural process the artist finds a natural point of light or flicker, a point where things seem to emerge from or descend into. Like a meeting point, or a moment of realization within us, a little crack in the subconscious where light peeps out from.

These series are also inspired by post war American painters such as Helen Frankenthaler and Morris Louis.
