ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I love the idea of isolating a simple object in white space. It becomes an intimate experience with the object in a way that elevates it to a new status. This is painting number 6 in my chair series and the first of the series to be painted larger scale on canvas. I'm inspired by midcentury modern furniture - both the colors of the time period and the shapes. So all the chairs so far in this series have been midcentury modern inspired. I hope this painting brings viewers a sense of calm, and delight.

He received his BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit in 2007, and during that time also studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Center for Art and Culture in Aix en Provence, France. His work is bright, playful, and has a certain crude messiness about it. While he explores various themes, his paintings are more about composition, color, contrast, and movement.
