Changed Direction Painting

I am interested in the contours between tree branches and roots that frame the atmosphere of a particular transition of time. This series explores spaces between trees, from around my home, frozen time. I know each tree. I pass them on my daily walks and use them as my models when I sketch. During the pandemic’s isolation, I learned wisdom from them. They definitely continued to grow within their confined ecosystems, nestled into the urban growth. I find a connection with their survival. This work celebrates each small victory of growth and the moments in time that combine to create a larger image.
